RFID
Goods and materials are increasingly accompanied on their journey along the supply chain by small, inconspicuous chips. These chips can be fitted to containers of textiles, consumer goods or to pallets of spare parts.
|
| The chips transmit information by radio including lead times, turnaround times, information on the goods or materials themselves, as well as the place of origin and destination. This technology, which is increasingly being used by companies to improve their top and bottom lines with their customers and suppliers, is called radio frequency identification (RFID). |
