Siemens Project Ca Mau 1 Combined Cycle Power Plant on Schedule

PetroVietnam and Lilama witnessed the test of the first turbine
A contract for supplying the power island (Lot 1) for the 750 MW – Ca Mau 1 Power Plant was signed between the Viet Nam Machinery Installation Corporation Lilama (Project EPC Contractor) and Siemens Aktiengesellschaft (Germany) in Hanoi in September 2005.

The Power Plant is part of the colossal Ca Mau Gas-Power Fertilizer Complex in the southern-most province of Ca Mau and will help the country overcome electricity shortages during the dry season.

The plant was designed to be operated by either gas or fuel oil with a capacity of 750 MW or 669.8 MW respectively. The plant consists of two gas turbines, two heat recovery steam generators, and one team turbine. The two gas turbines are expected to generate power by early 2007, the complete power plant is scheduled for commercial operation in December 2007.

As an important milestone the first gas turbine Model SGT5-4000F has now successfully passed the over-speed test run in the Siemens factories in Berlin / Germany on time and will be shipped to Ca Mau Site shortly. This test, which was witnessed by the Project Owner PetroVietnam and the Project EPC Contractor Lilama, is an important milestone to assure the completion of the Ca Mau power plant project as scheduled.
