CLINICAL WORKSHOP ON MULTI-SLICE COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY

Hanoi, 27 July 2006- A clinical workshop on state of the art multi-slice computed tomography is organized with the cooperation of Vietnam Society of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine (VSRNM) and Siemens Vietnam. The training workshop aims at providing the members of VSRNM in specific and the radiologists in general with the basic and advanced knowledge in Multi-slice Computed Tomography (MSCT). There are over 100 professors, doctors and engineers working in radiology as well as other departments including cardiology, neurology, internal medicine from cities and provinces in the North participated at this event.

Computed Tomography (CT) is one of the advanced methods of radiological diagnosis, in which MSCT is the state of the art technology applied widely throughout the world. This technology enables visualizing the smallest pathology and finest anatomical structures with exceptional quality, whether complex inner-ear bones or the finest vessels of the coronary tree. Additionally, it allows for maximal diagnostic detail at the fastest acquisition speed and the lowest possible radiation dose.

MSCT helps radiologist not only examine the entire vascular system but also to robustly image the heart and the coronary arteries in only a few seconds. Besides, you can perform accurate stenosis measurements and stent planning.

At the workshop, doctors are trained on MSCT scanning, IV contrast parameters, post-processing, scanning on trauma, thorax/lung, colon.

“We highly appreciate Siemens’ efforts in cooperating with VSRNM to update the latest information on clinical applications of MSCT. We found that it is very useful and necessary to organize such a workshop to provide local radiologists and clinical doctors with the world’s modern technologies.” said Professor Hoang Duc Kiet, President of Vietnam Society of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine.
