Today, a two-day nationwide Cancer Radiotherapy Workshop is taking place at K Hospital, Hanoi, from 17/03/2005 till 18/03/2005. Participated by around 50 radiotherapists, the workshop is organized by K Hospital, Siemens Medical Solutions and Med-Aid, Inc. - an authorized distributor of Siemens Linear Accelerators in Vietnam.

It is a common knowledge that cancer is one of the most dangerous diseases, threatening the lives of people around the world in general, and in Vietnam in particular. Strategic importance has been nowadays attached to cancer control, including cancer prevention, early diagnosis, patient care and therapy. Among different types of cancer therapy, radiotherapy has become popular worldwide. In Vietnam, cancer radiotherapy is in the developing stage. With an aim at improving the quality of radiotherapy for cancer patients, Siemens Medical Solutions and Med-Aid, Inc. coordinate with K Hospital to organize the Cancer Radiotherapy Workshop K Hospital on two days, from 17 March 2005 till 18 March 2005. Participants in the workshop are cancer radiotherapists coming from hospitals all over the country. At the workshop, participants are trained by American and Singaporean medical specialists on advanced technologies in radiotherapy of breast cancer, lung cancer and pelvis cancer by Linear Accelerators; on quality control in cancer radiotherapy; on brachy therapy using the seed-type energy source. In addition, doctors of national leading hospitals including K Hospital, Cho Ray Hospital and Cancer Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City also share their experience with colleagues through interactive lectures and presentations.
