The employees of “Rail Systems” will be responsible for our railway customers worldwide and will jointly develop customized mobility solutions in close cooperation with them on site.

Locomotives and Components
The new “Locomotives and Components” (LOC) Business Unit headquartered in Munich-Allach offers innovative product and system solutions for passenger rail and rail freight traffic all over the world. It is the leading international supplier of both multisystem and highspeed locomotives. Locomotives powered by Siemens equipment are hauling huge loads in heavy-haul traffic all over the world. With its current Vectron line, “Locomotives and Components” is continuing the successful history in the field of locomotive manufacture that began when Siemens invented the very first electric locomotive back in 1879.
Locomotives made by Siemens combine sustained cost-effective operation with low environmental impact and resource consumption. In addition to its renowned locomotive platforms, “Locomotives and Components” provides customized solutions based on service-proven designs and components. As a competent partner for components such as traction systems, bogies and onboard power supplies, the new Business Unit can supply not only the complete range of electrical and mechanical equipment but also entire system solutions for modern rail vehicles – and all from a single source. Backed by a high degree of expertise and reliability, “Locomotives and Components” can ensure the mobility and the competitiveness of its customers. The “Locomotives and Components” Business Unit employs around 2,500 people. It has locations in Munich, Erlangen, Graz, Vienna, Aurangabad and Sacramento. In addition, there are the two joint venture locations in Yekaterinburg (Ural Locomotives) and Zhuzhou (STEZ).
